Finally, i made it to Basilque Notre-Dame de Fourvière.
My friends (Tim and Carol) are here in Lyon for a visit, so we have been doing some sight-seeing, drinking excellent wine and enjoying the best food in the world, especially the French bread and cheese.
The Basilique is locate above Vieux Lyon and has a very powerful presence in the city. i often walk to the river, which is behind my appartement building, at night to look at the building which is so lit up that it looks like Christmas year round.
The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary because she saved the people from a cholera epidemic in 1823, so you will not find Jesus there.
Below are some of the photos that i took on this visit. The view is spectacular. The funicular, which is the last photo, is one way to get there, perhaps a fun way, or you could walk up, if the weather is nice.
more to come…

Beautiful series of photographs. I adore Lyon having lived there for six months a few years ago, and yearn to return to this most beautiful of places.
God bless
