Today was my last day to see all the sights that i had missed in London, so first on my list was Notting Hill again because i had not found the blue door where Hugh Grant lived with a dodgy Welshman and i had not seen the Portobello Market. The market was actually boring. i guess if you are interested in buying souvenirs, then you might find it interesting. The door was blue and it was just a door standing in front of me. i noticed that a lot of people have tattoos in London.
After Notting Hill i went back to Marble Arch to find the smallest house, again, but i saw some graffiti first. i never found the smallest house after an hour or more of searching because i could not find the street, which i think might be the smallest street in London too.
While i was in the area, i decided to ask the driver of National Express, if the coach is busy at 3 a.m. He recommended that i buy a ticket, but you can only buy it at their office, which is located behind Victoria Station. It took forever to get there, so my sight-seeing day was cancelled, but i saw a few things of interest. The policemen in London were nice. They told me that i should let them know before i take a photo, so they can at least smile.
But something wonderful happened. i was told that i must try the English Scones with Tea, but as i looked around i noticed that the prices were 20 pounds and more, so i decided against it. As i was riding the bus to Victoria Station i saw the sign that announced it for 5.50 pounds. i could not believe it.
After i took care of business, i walked around looking for that little shop and i eventually found it. i walked in, announced that i am here and the man told me, “Sorry, we are closed, but you can buy something cold to drink.”
“No, i need the English Scones.”
“You can come back tomorrow.”
“i am leaving England at 5 a.m.”
“Well….okay, for you i will sell it, but you have to take away.” No problem!! i told them that i love England and the people are so nice. It turned out that the guy was from Italy and the girl was from France. i guess the Italians and the French are nice too. Try Cafe Bella Maria.
One warning. Do not use the Tube/Underground on extremely hot days. It was like a sauna. The kids were funny that stood next to me. And do not forget to “mind the gap” and mind the step” or you might fall.
more to come…
