Hollywood is out of ideas so they reuse old series in hopes of getting the original audience and the younger generation who never heard of it to check it out. There have been quite a few old series returns in the last couple of years and this year is not any different.
We have Magnum P.I. with a new cast, Murphy Brown has some of her original cast, The Conners killed off Rosanne because of a Twitter incident and Last Man Standing was cancelled, then picked up by Fox after ABC suddenly cancelled it. ABC’s motto is A Bitch to Conservatives. Another series that is on the horizon is a new version of Roswell called Roswell, New Mexico with a twist. The main character will be an illegal immigrant and her crush will be an alien. Is that two illegal immigrants? Quick call ICE.
None of the series are worthy of my time. I have never seen any of them in their original run so I decided to watch a few episodes of Murphy Brown and Roseanne to see what I thought, but I was not fascinated enough to continue either series. I watched two episodes of the reboot, rehashed or re- whatever of both series and I must say that I am tired of all the politically correct crap. It does not make for great comedy. I did not laugh once. I watch the telly to escape from all my overthinking during the day. I do not watch it to be preached at by Hollywood.
Magnum P.I. is another series I have never seen, but I decided to skip looking for the original and watch the new version. I tried to watch it three times. Each time I drifted away to my world where I am the hero who does not need a mustache or a goatee to be interesting.
I will write about Charmed and Roswell when the rehashed, reboots, refurbished or rethreads happen. As for the other series, I rate them 3/10.
Maybe Kanye is right about news, but it applies to television, “It is 90% liberal.”
