Live at the Star Club, Hamburg from Jerry Lee Lewis is what you expect of him. He is a Rock and Roller. Yes, he is still alive. I have heard of him, but I thought he died 100 years ago. I guess all the wives and rock life has petrified him like Keith Richards. What does not kill you, makes you stringer they say.
I know of his music barely, but like all 50s music it is not to my liking. It is too simplistic. He piano playing sounds repetitive in every song. Another problem is that it a live album, but fortunately for us it is not a really long album.
His career spiraled downward when he married his 13 year old first cousin once removed. Country music eventually saved his career. He recorded a country song and his career took off again. It proves my point that country music lovers will listen to anything.
I can only recommend the album if you like Jerry Lee Lewis and live music. He signature songs “Great Balls of Fire” and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” are on it. Mediocre. 5/10.
