Creedence Clearwater Revival is a band that I have heard of, but I am not sure if I have heard their music. Bayou Country is their second album together. The problem with it is that they originated from California. They are singing and playing swamp rock and Southern rock. Isn’t that considered cultural appropriation? Maybe in the 60s it was okay. Today there are so many idiots running around calling everything cultural appropriation, even cooking food from other countries.
“Born on the Bayou” was written by John Fogerty who has never been lived in or on the bayou. He made it all up from his imagination. I do not like his voice. I actually hate it. I am not a fan of the music either.
All the songs sound similar to me. This is one of the albums I could only listen to once. It is too country for me. If it was more bluesy, then I may have given it a second try.
The biggest surprise for me was the song “Proud Mary“. I thought it was an Ike and Tina Turner song. I think this version is quite boring. Tina Turner owned it.
I would never listen to this album again. It was hard to listen to it all the way though without a break. 2/10.
