#139 Crosby, Stills And Nash

I had hoped that I would never have to listen to David Crosby sing again. I really do not care about hearing about his love of three-way sex. But here he is again in another group. Crosby, Stills And Nash released their debut self-titled album in 1969. I noticed that there are a few groups at this time period that I am not looking forward to listening to and this is one of them.

I know I have heard the first two songs “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” and “Marrakesh Express” in passing. I do not like this kind of harmonies. It sounds like little choir boys singing before they reach puberty. All the songs sound like bored choir boys. I find it hard to believe anyone actually can listen to this without falling asleep.

I read that this is one of the albums that helped to create the “California” sound. It paved the way for vocal harmony and the singer-songwriters movement. Yet, I find it so boring, especially their version of “Everybody’s Talkin‘” which made it to a later version of the album. 3/10.
