Cheap Trick is one of the bands that I really liked from the 80s. I saw them in concert once and it was great. Unfortunately, the album to review is the live one At Budokan from 1979. Cheap Trick enjoyed Beatlemania type of success in Japan. This is the album that put them on the map in the USA.
I do not understand why a live album is so popular and on the list of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. These are a waste of space for better albums. I do like two songs on the album so that helped its score. “I Want You to Want Me” and “Surrender” are reason enough to give it a listen. The latter was “the ultimate Seventies teen anthem” according to Rolling Stone magazine. I would agree. 6.5/10.
