#553 The Mekons – Fear and Whiskey

The Mekons or Mekons, as it is sometimes written on their albums and Spotify, are an English band. Fear and Whiskey is their fourth album. The album is a mixture of country music and punk rock, making it the first alternative country album. This sounds like something I would love to hate.

The songs that caught my attention were “Chivalry“, “Trouble Down South“, “Darkness and Doubt”, and “Country”.

Actually, I think this is oddly interesting. I believe the singer is Tom Greenhalgh. He has a voice that reminds me of The Strokes singer, but the music has the elements of country. It is so weird. I am kind of sort of liking it. I think the album deserves a listen to and its place on the list. 7.5/10.
